HAKKI TAŞ

Welcome to my website! I am a postdoctoral research fellow at the German Institute of Global and Area Studies (GIGA), Hamburg. My research interests include populism, civil-military relations, diasporas, and identity politics. In 2011, I received my PhD in Political Science at Bilkent University. Before my appointment at GIGA, I held researcher or teaching positions at Yale University, American University in Cairo, Ipek University, the Swedish Defence University, and the University of Bremen. My peer-reviewed articles have appeared in journals including Comparative Studies in Society and History, PS: Political Science and Politics, Democratization, British Journal of Politics and International Relations and Third World Quarterly. My research has also been funded by several institutions such as the Swedish Institute, Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, and Gerda Henkel Foundation.
